Activate Your Life Force: Yoga & Coasteering Adventure Day

Heather Gweneth Bird and Adventure Carrick are teaming up to offer the perfect balance for your Mind, Body, Spirit Yoga Adventures.

'Activate Your Life Force' is the first in a series of Yoga and Adventure days happening throughout the summer, based in the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere.

Kick starting with our Coasteering and Yoga day on Saturday the 19th June at a stunning coastal venue near Ballantrae, Ayrshire.

Starting the day with an uplifting shore-side yoga practice open to all levels, using breath, movement and meditative techniques to wake up our physiology and prepare for the waters (tepee available for inclement weather). We find balance within before we head on out to connect more deeply with the rugged terrain and enlivening waters of the Atlantic Ocean, allowing you to face your fears and jump right in (wet-suits provided). The coasteering will be led by our highly experienced water guide Chris Saunders who will pitch the activity to suit all levels. You will come away with a great sense of achievement and a deeper understanding of the effects water and adventure have on our life force.

A healthy lunch is provided, followed by a guided relaxation with the oceanic sounds of nature surrounding us to journey inward once again and reflect upon and truly feel your awakened live force. After lunch we'll explore a gentle yoga flow, embodying the qualities of the element of water as we nurture our supple, fluid musculature stepping further into our flow. We'll finish with an interactive coaching workshop emphasising how the take-home experiences of your adventure and yoga day can be applied to every-day life, keeping your creative life force activated!

Perfect for couples, singles and groups of friends/family.

An Invitation to Write About The Sea - Poems and Pictures

We invite children to write an eight line poem on particular topics and this years was inspired by the BBC Blue Planet 2. We were appalled at what is happening with our oceans, negatively affecting our sea and sea creatures.

We have had thousands of entries from primary age children. We believe education from the earliest age possible will help improve their understanding of the world around them.

Our winning poem for 2018 is The Bottle Fish is penned by Antonio Mo. We ordinarily include two topics for the chidlren to write about and from 2019 this will include an environmental topic each year. Entries for the next initiative will open 7th January 2019. However for the Oceans topic we will open entries from today 8th June until 30th April 2019. We will announce the winning Ocean/Sea related topic on World Oceans Day 2019 in support.

This initiative is 'not for profit' and a national poetry book is published each year with a selected number of poems that are showcased in an A4 size brightly coluoured book with £1.00 per book sale donated to the children's charity Barnardo's. We have an amazing panel of judges, made up of authors, illustrators, BBC Presenters, musicians, who all volunteer their time.
