I live by the Sea

We invite everyone to an exhibition of winning photos of participants from across the world, who took part in an international contest entitled I Live by the Sea.

We all live by the sea. No matter how far from the sea you live, next to the beach or far away in the mountains, you still have a great impact on it. And it is up to you whether you create a positive relationship with the sea or have adverse impact on it.

We believe that educating people about the importance and the beauty of marine environments is the key to creating positive attitudes towards the sea.

Just like in the previous editions, our goal is to spread and share knowledge about marine environments and marine protection issues, as well as the exchange of information among users of different seas and marine oriented regions.

Through their participation we hope to involve youth of different natural and cultural heritage to share their views on marine issues in a creative way.

Immerse yourself in the blue

An ocean in the heart of Milan: MSC Marine Stewardship Council - an international non-profit organization whose mission is to keep the oceans full of life today, tomorrow and for future generations - in the week of World Oceans Day presents "Immerse yourself in the blue" and transforms the Columns of San Lorenzo, in the heart of the historic center of Milan, into a great blue sea. From Monday 3 to Thursday 6 June the Milanese ocean will be the place where the citizens of Milan and not only will be able to stop, relax, learn more about our oceans and understand better than through their own behaviors and purchasing choices they can make a real contribution to ocean health. An awareness-raising operation designed to remind people that the sea must be respected and safeguarded every day, in everyday life, and not just for the world oceans day. The highlight will be Thursday 6 June, when through a collective game, people will be invited to "fish" some design objects that represent life in the oceans, created by two artists - Geppetta and Salvabarche - who use recycled materials: the first the objects deposited on the beach by the sea currents and the second various parts of old abandoned boats. It will be allowed to take and take away with it some special fish, those marked with the MSC blue sticker “Sustainable and certified fishing”. made by two artists - Geppetta and Salvabarche - who use recycled materials: the first objects deposited on the beach by sea currents and the second various parts of old abandoned boats. It will be allowed to take and take away with it some special fish, those marked with the MSC blue sticker “Sustainable and certified fishing”.

The game, conducted with the help of "fishermen", aims to explain the concept of sustainable fishing in a simple and fun way. Not only in Milan but throughout Italy with the hashtag #StavoltaMiTuffo The campaign "Immerse yourself in the blue" will have its declination on the territory through the event in Milan, but through social media, anyone can participate with MSC in the celebration of World Oceans Day: Through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, everyone can play their part using the hashtag #StavoltaMiTuffo. Wherever you are, at any time of the day (at breakfast, in the office, at the bar, on the tram ...) MSC invites everyone to dive into the blue, taking a picture with a mask and snorkel. A fun way to proclaim your commitment to respect the oceans every day
